Kanmangafuchi Abyss

Kanmangafuchi Abyss was formed by an eruption of nearby Mount Nantai. This gorge near central Nikko is only a few hundred meters long and is lined with about 70 stone statues of Jizos. It is truly a remarkable site to see the abyss and all the statues lining it. This was taken at sunset, so unfortunately this picture doesn't show the true beauty of the abyss.
